CONSENSUS in conjunction with the National University of Ireland, Galway is hosting its second international conference on sustainable consumption on Thursday May 21st and Friday May 22nd 2015 in Galway.

The conference theme is ‘Sustainable Consumption Transformations: Implementation and Impacts’. This two-day conference will provide an international platform for both scholars and policymakers in the field of sustainable consumption to discuss and debate on-going research in this important area.

CONSENSUS (consumption, environment and sustainability), funded by the Environmental Protection Agency is Ireland’s largest research project on sustainable consumption and behaviour change. Our research has been on-going since 2009 and has fed into national policy action and academic literature on behaviour change for sustainable consumption (focusing on energy, water, food and transport).

Our conference is the only dedicated conference on the topic in Ireland and our 2015 agenda will focus on implementation and impact of research on policy and action.

The conference programme comprises of a mix of presentations, panel discussions and lightning talks from policymakers, researchers and practitioners. Speakers and attendees will be drawn from Irish and international audiences, with Professor Martina Schäfer (Technische Universität Berlin) providing the keynote address on the evening of Friday May 22nd 2015 (which will be available to download as a podcast on this website after the event).
